The Brief

Commissioned by CTR Ltd for councils, charities, and integrated care boards, EILEEN supports vulnerable and neurodivergent adults with the parts of independent living that prove hardest: understanding NHS appointment letters, remembering what was discussed, knowing how to get there, and preparing for the next consultation. The product is deployed by care organisations to their service users, making it a B2B2C platform with a compliance profile that reflects the sensitivity of the population it serves.

The Product

EILEEN provides an accessible, trauma-informed interface -- WCAG compliant, designed for neurodivergent users -- that extracts structured information from NHS letters, generates calendar entries, provides accessible travel guidance, and prepares users for upcoming appointments. The AI layer is deliberately conservative: it surfaces information and prompts rather than making decisions, and includes a configurable kill-switch to disable AI assistance at the organisation level or per-user.

Compliance Architecture

The technical brief required production-grade NHS assurance. Delivered: NHS DTAC (Digital Technology Assessment Criteria) readiness, alignment with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), UK GDPR Article 9 health data governance with appropriate lawful bases and retention schedules, a tamper-evident audit chain for all AI-assisted interactions, and safeguarding controls at every user touchpoint. This is healthcare infrastructure, not a checkbox exercise.

What Was Built

EILEEN was designed and built end-to-end by a single developer -- architecture, backend API (Django/DRF), AI integration, frontend, compliance documentation, and deployment. The approach demonstrates what senior, specialist engineering looks like at speed: production-grade compliance delivered without a large team or a lengthy procurement cycle.
